Tigers Fall 13-7 to Cal Baptist

Santa Barbara, Calif. - The Pacific women's water polo team lost their first game of day two at the Gaucho Spring Invite to Cal Baptist by a score of 13-7. Cal Baptist improved to 11-7 with the win, while Pacific dropped to 5-12.

Pacific jumped ahead with three goals in the first quarter. The Lancers responded with three goals of their own in the second quarter tying the game 4-4 going into halftime. Cal Baptist came out of halftime scoring nine goals in the second half compared to the Tigers' three goals.

On the offense, sophomore Dara Tawarahara (Honolulu, Hawaii) found the back of the cage three times to lead the Tigers in scoring. Freshman Katherine Biehle (Visalia, Calif.) netted two goals, sophomores Bridget Geck (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and Bethany Quertermous (Humble, Texas) both tallied a goal.

Freshman Lindsey Pengilly (Stockton, Calif.) played a great first half making seven of her eight saves in the first half alone. Tawarahara led the Tigers with three steals. Sophomores Bethany Quertermous, and Courtney Boettger (Stockton, Calif.) added two steals each and sophomores Bridget Geck, Meara McCarthy (Simsbury, Conn.) and Catherine Collett (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) each intercepted one pass.

Pacific will play next on Sunday, Mar. 8, at 1:00 p.m. to take on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at the Gaucho Spring Invite in Santa Barbara, Calif.
