Riverside, Calif. - The Pacific women's water polo team dropped the mid week match to the Cal Baptist Lancers. With the win, the Lancers improve to 15-8 while the Tigers fell to 6-13 on the season.
The Tigers traveled to Riverside to play Cal Baptist in the third time these two teams have met this season. Pacific started out slowly with a silent first quarter. The Tigers fell behind 2-0 at the end of the first quarter. Sophomore Courtney Boettger (Stockton, Calif.) scored a goal for the Tigers in the second quarter hoping to gain some momentum, but the Lancers tallied three more goals.
The second half saw more scoring for the Tigers. Pacific was able to find the back of the net three separate times but it was not enough to capture the lead as Cal Baptist added five more goals.
Boettger lead Pacific with two goals. Fellow sophomore Dara Tawarahara (Honolulu, Hawaii) and freshman Katherine Biehle (Visalia, Calif.) were the only other Tigers that netted goals.
Pacific returns to action on Saturday, Mar. 21, at 9:15 a.m. to take on Hartwick in the Aztec Invitation hosted by San Diego State University.
