Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific women's water polo team put forth a valiant effort but dropped a 15-11 game to Cal Baptist on Saturday, Feb. 21. With the loss, the Tigers fall to 2-5, while the Cal Baptist Lancers improve to 6-6.
The first half saw a lot of exciting back and forth play as Pacific and Cal Baptist fought hard for a lead. The Tigers started out with an explosive first half with junior Alex Kutac (Houston, Texas) scoring four of her six goals in the first half alone. The game was tied 7-7 at halftime, however, Pacific was unable to maintain the aggressive attack through the third quarter. With the Tiger's lone goal of the third quarter coming from freshman Allison Kosich (Stockton, Calif.) the Lancers scored five goals as Pacific fell behind 12-8.
This was a deficit that the Tigers could not overcome. Despite the exciting play and goals from Kutac and sophomore Dara Tawarahara (Honolulu, Hawaii), the Tiger's could not rally enough to come back from behind.
Pacific returns to Chris Kjeldsen Pool to face Santa Clara on Saturday Feb. 21 at 3 p.m.
