Bloomington, Ind. -
The Pacific field hockey team managed to shut out No. 20 Indiana on the road in the first period, but couldn't hold on as the Hoosiers rallied three goals in the final period to take the win 3-0. The Tigers, now 3-10 overall, could not get past the Indiana defense, putting up just eight shots in the contest.
Defense ruled the first period. Senior Lisa Muhl (Harleysville, Pa.) picked up her third defensive save in three games for the Tigers. She currently leads the team with seven this year. Junior Sarah Miceli (Los Gatos, Calif.) also grabbed a defensive save against the Hoosiers.
And Christina Niccum (Simi Valley, Calif.) picked up eight saves in her second start of the season, four of which came off seven first period shots by Indiana. She and the defense held the Hoosiers scoreless for over 48 minutes before Meg O'Connell opened up scoring in the contest and then assisted on the second just five minutes later.
Indiana (11-5) would grab the last goal with under four minutes to play.
The Tigers return home for their final game of the regular season. They face off against NorPac rival UC Davis for their Senior Day/Think Pink game on Saturday, Oct. 31. Game time is set for 1 p.m. on Brookside Field.
