Tigers Falter Against Cardinal, 7-0

Stanford, Calif. - The Pacific field hockey squad suffered a 7-0 loss to Stanford on Saturday, Sept. 27.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 1-8 on the season, while Stanford improved to 3-7.

Despite the lopsided score, the Tigers and Cardinal battled closely. Pacific closed the game with just a two-shot deficit, firing 15 shots to 17 by Stanford. Each team, meanwhile drew eight penalty corners in the game.

Unfortunately for the Tigers, Stanford was able to place their shots slightly more accurately, notching three goals in a 10-minute span in the first period and four goals in a 15-minute stretch of the second.

Stanford's Midori Uehara led the Cardinal with four goals in the contest, while Camille Gandhi had one goal and three assists for the Cardinal. Uehara and Gandhi hooked up at the 6:58 mark and the 11:31 mark of the first half to push Stanford out in front, 2-0. The duo connected again 10:46 into the second period.

Pacific returns to competition on Saturday, Oct. 4 as the Tigers face California in the Tigers' NorPac Conference opener in Berkeley, Calif. at 4 p.m.
