Stockton, Calif.- The Pacific men's water polo team and head coach James Graham, announced the addition of four new players to the polo squad for the 2008-2009 season. Joey Gullikson, Lance Morrison, Adam Huff, and Tom Koning will look to bring their talents to the Tiger team.
Joey Gullikson is a 6'2" attacker from Sonoma, Calif. where he was a two-time All-American and All-State selection in his two years at Santa Rosa Junior College. In 2007 Joey earned the Big 8 Conference MVP Award, and led Santa Rosa Junior College to a Northern California Championship. Gullikson graduated from Cabrillo High School, where he was a member of the All-CIF team and was named Los Padres League MVP.
Lance Morrison comes to Pacific from Fairfield, Calif., another transfer athlete from Santa Rosa Junior College. With his 6'5" frame, Morrison is a much needed asset at the center forward position. Lance was a First Team All-American at Santa Rosa Junior College, and led his team to a conference championship. Lance graduated from Fairfield High School and was a two-time SCAC League MVP in his time there.
Adam Huff comes to Pacific as a freshman, standing 6'4" out of West Valley, Utah. Adam graduated from Kearns High School. Huff was voted a high school All-American and First Team All-State, during his career at Kearns High. Adam helped lead his team to three state championships, while being a member of the USA Youth National Team in 2006.
The final recruit of the 2008-2009 class is 6'2" attacker Tom Koning. Koning graduated from Poway High School, where he was named to the First Team All-Palomar League in San Diego, as well as earning First Team honors in North County, Division 1, and CIF. In 2007 Tom was voted onto the Division 1 Senior All-Star Team. Koning holds the Poway High School records for most career goals, most goals in a game, and most steals in a game.
"I am thrilled to have such a talented recruiting class in my first year as a head coach at Pacific," said Graham. "Lance and Adam should both be dominate center forwards and will also add to our team speed. Joey and Tom will definitely bring a strong perimeter shooting threat and tremendous defensive skill. I believe that they give Pacific water polo a very bright future and I am looking forward to working with each on them this Fall."
Pacific starts off the season September 6th and 7th down south at the San Diego Invitational. Their first home match at Chris Kjeldsen pool is scheduled for September 9th at 5:00 vs. UC Santa Barbara.
