San Diego, Calif. - The Pacific women's water polo team suffered a 16-2 loss to the fourth seeded San Diego State Aztecs in the opening round of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Tournament on Thursday, April 24. The Aztecs are also the host of the MPSF Tournament.
The loss dropped the Tigers to 4-26 on the season, while San Diego State moved to 27-5 overall. The Aztecs now advance to the second round of the MPSF Tournament and will face Hawai'i in the second round.
Trailing 5-0 entering the second period, the Tigers netted back-to-back goals from senior Kellie Flether (Roseville, Calif.) and Bridget Geck (Huntington Beach, Calif.) to pull within three at 5-2.
Unfortunately that was the end of Pacific's scoring as the Aztecs closed the game on a 11-0 run.
The Tigers will conclude their 2008 season on Friday, April 25 in a consolation matchup against UC Santa Barbara at 10 a.m.
