Riverside, Calif. - After dropping a one goal game to the Lancers earlier this season, the Pacific women's water polo team fell to Cal Baptist again on April 12 by a score of 8-6 in Riverside, Calif. With the loss, the Tigers fell to 4-23 on the year, while the Lancers improved to 23-11 overall on the season with the win. Six of the Tigers losses have now come by two goals or less.
The Tigers were led by Kellie Fletcher (Roseville, Calif.) in the loss as she recorded three goals on the afternoon to tie Cal Baptist's Chelsea Gentry for the most goals scored in the contest.
Fletcher scored one goals in each of the first and second periods and then scored one more in the fourth for the Tigers, while Jessica Safir (Los Gatos, Calif.) scored once in the first and once in the third and Dara Tawarahara (Honolulu, Hawaii) scored once in the second to round out the scoring for the Tigers.
The Tigers matched the Lancers goal for goal in the first and third periods of the loss, but were outscored by one goal in each of the second and fourth quarters. Senior Jocelyn Gray (Strathmore, Alberta, Canada) was in goal for the Tigers as she recorded a game-high seven saves in the losing effort.
The Tigers will next be in action on April 13 when they take on UC Santa Barbara in their second to last game before the MPSF tournament. The contest will be played in Santa Barbara, Calif. and will start at 12:00 p.m.
