Tempe, Ariz. - After falling to No. 7 Arizona State in their opening game of the Arizona State Invitational earlier in the day, the Pacific women's water polo returned to the pool and fell to Cal Baptist by a score of 10-9 in their second of four games this weekend. With the loss, the Tigers fell to 4-19 on the year, while the Lancers advanced to 21-8 with the win.
After getting off to a slow start in the contest and falling behind to the Lancers by a score of 3-0 after the first quarter, the Tigers bounced back in the second quarter by scoring five goals to head into the break down by one.
Scoring goals for the Tigers in the second were Kellie Fletcher (Roseville, Calif.), Jessica Safir (Los Gatos, Calif.), Dara Tawarahara (Honolulu, Hawaii), Virginia McConnell (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada), and Bridget Geck (Huntington Beach, Calif.).
In the second half, Tawarahara would score two more goals and Fletcher and Geck would each add one more as the Tigers went on to fall to the Lancers by a score of 10-9. Jocelyn Gray (Strathmore, Alberta, Canada) was in goal for the Tigers and blocked seven shots to lead the Pacific defense.
