Pacific Falls At UC Davis, 4-0

Davis, Calif. - The Pacific baseball team dropped a 4-0 decision to UC Davis in the second game of a three-game Big West Conference baseball series at Dobbins Stadium on Saturday, March 29. Pacific falls to 5-18, 0-2 in Big West play, while UC Davis improves to 16-8 and 2-0 on the year.

The Aggies got on the board in the bottom of the first inning, getting a leadoff double from Ryan Royster and an RBI single from Ty Kelly to take a 1-0 lead.

The Tigers loaded the bases in the top of second inning after a single and two hit batsmen, but were unable to plate a run after an inning-ending double play.

UC Davis added three more runs in the fourth inning, on a two-run double by Kevin James and an RBI single by Grant Hirneise.

Aggie starting pitcher Brad McAtee (4-1) pitched a complete game two-hitter, with the Tigers picking up singles from junior Kurt Wideman (Fallbrook, Calif.) and freshman Brian Martin (Livermore, Calif.). The Tigers did not manage a hit in the final five innings.

Tiger starter Mark McCain (Dallas, Texas) took the loss to fall to 1-2, giving up four runs on 10 hits in seven innings of work. Freshman Thomas Berolzheimer (Stockton, Calif.) pitched one inning of scoreless relief for Pacific.

The Tigers and Aggies finish up the three game series on Sunday, March 30th with a 1:00 p.m. start at Dobbins Stadium on the UC Davis campus.
