Cambridge, Mass.- The Pacific field hockey team lost 3-2 against Harvard on Sunday, Sept. 16.
The loss places the Tigers at 1-6 on the season, while Harvard moved to 4-1.
The first goal of the season came from Harvard at the 15:41 minute mark on a goal from Kayla Romanelli from the left side.
Moments later another goal slid in for the Crimson at the 23:50 minute mark on a penalty corner holding the Tigers at 2-0.
Pacific reacted with cleverness as freshman Hayley Hull (San Diego, Calif.) hurled a rebound from a penalty corner slashing into the goal at the 31:53 minute mark.
The Tigers were not satisfied with the 2-1 score. As a result, five minutes later junior Kedibone Leubane (Capetown, South Africa) made a deposit of her own with another unassisted goal.
After gaining the momentum of the game, Harvard snatched it back and landed the last goal of the game at the 47:45 minute mark from Maggie McVeigh.
Pacific took 11 shots against Harvard's 14 and had four corner shots versus the Crimson's seven.
On defense sophomore Lisa Muhl (Harleysville, PA) attempted two shots. In the midfield sophomore Kim Keyawa (Chico, Calif.) cracked two shots along with junior Erica Nestle (San Jose, Calif.) who added one as well. Sophomore forward Katy McDonough (Ventura, Calif.) challenged the Crimson twice during the Sunday morning match.
The Tigers will be back in action on Sept. 21 against Cal in Berkeley, Calif. 7:00p.m. PT
In the previous contest on Aug. 8, Pacific beat Cal 4-2.
