Pacific Field Hockey falls 3-2 against Vermont

Durham, NH.- The Pacific Field Hockey squad lost 3-2 against the University of Vermont on Thursday, Sept. 13.

The loss drops the Tigers to 1-4 on the season, while Vermont moved to 6-1.

The first goal came from the Catamounts at the 7:45 minute mark. The Tigers replied and boosted the tempo of the game with their first goal of the game. Senior Katie Fixsen (Vista, Calif.) scored from a corner entry at the 31:45 minute mark after the ball bounced back from her initial attempt; she slapped the ball in exploding past the goalkeeper.

As the two teams reorganized at halftime the score was tied one to one.

After the half, Vermont sent another goal in past freshman Lauren Woods (Oceanside, Calif.) at the 52:28 minute mark. Woods had a game high six saves in her rookie debut for the Tigers. Two saves were penalty strokes.

Pacific responded once again with another unassisted goal from junior Kedibone Leubane (Capetown, South Africa) at the 61:31 minute mark. Leubane picked off a pass from the defense and blasted the ball past the goalkeeper.

Junior Erica Nestle (San Jose, Calif.) helped significantly in the midfield, while sophomore Lisa Muhl (Harleysville, PA) and senior Elle Busch (San Jose, Calif.) helped the team exceptionally on the defensive end of the field. Muhl snagged another defensive save before her exit, bringing her total up to two for the season.

The last goal was scored by Megan Maynard at the 69:00 minute mark to bring the final score to 3-2.

The Pacific field hockey team will be back in action New Hampshire in Durham, NH at 12:00 ET
