Stanford, Calif. - The Pacific field hockey team suffered a 3-1 loss to Boston College on Sunday, Aug. 26.
The loss dropped the Tigers to 0-2 on the season, while Boston College moved to 1-1.
The Eagles scored the first two goals in the first ten minutes to take an early lead. The first goal was scored by Chelsey Feole after only 3:25 into the game. The second goal was scored by Kathleen Murphy from bouncing the ball back in from a crossing pass right in front of the net from Crystal Frates at the 9:28 mark.
Pacific's time to score arrived after the goalkeeper for the Boston College covered up the ball with her pads during a penalty corner. The result was a penalty stroke which allowed senior Elle Busch (San Jose, Calif.) to score her first goal of the season and pull the Tigers within one at 2-1.
The final goal of the game came at the 27:33 mark when Frates scored for Boston College.
The Tigers took 13 shots in the game against the Eagles who shot 18.
Pacific took six corner shots against the Eagles' nine during the Sunday afternoon battle in front of over one hundred fans
Tiger goalkeeper Valerie Niles (San Jose, Calif.) led the team with five saves, while the Eagles' Julia Berkowitz also finished with five saves.
Pacific will host their home opener on Friday Aug. 31 against Missouri State. The game is scheduled to begin at 3pm on Brookside Field.
