Campos to Join Field Hockey Team as Graduate Coach

July 27, 2007

Stockton, Calif. - Vianney Campos will return to the Pacific Field Hockey program as a graduate coach this fall after an outstanding playing career as a Tiger. Her leadership and dedication to the program the past four years as a student-athlete made a large impact. Campos will look to carry that over as a part of the coaching staff with the Tigers.

"We are excited to have Vianney come back right away," said Tiger head coach Linda MacDonald. "Her experiences at Pacific and internationally this summer will help our team in many ways."

During her four years as a player at Pacific she led the Tigers to 39 wins. Vianney earned NFHCA All-America honors in 2007, just the fourth player to receive All-America honors in school history. The last University of the Pacific field hockey All-American was Wendy Crain, who received the award in 1989.

She was named a First Team All-American for her play through her final season as a Tiger. Vianney recorded 32 goals and eight assists on the season for a total of 72 points, which are all school records. She holds the Pacific school records for goals in a game (5), goals in a career (68), assists in a career (18), and for points in a career (154). Vianney led the entire nation in goals per game (3.79) and points per game (1.68). In the NFHCA Senior All-Star Game scored four goals and one assist.

Campos was selected to the USA Field Hockey's Northern California team as one of the top field hockey players in the country. She competed with the National Team in Azerbaijan in the summer of 2007 at the ATA Holding Championship. Vianney was also named to the US Field Hockey Development Squad. Campos was also invited to the U.S. National Field Hockey Squad at the Olympic Training Center. She also has received the following honors: Nor-Pac West Offensive Player of the Year Award, NFHCA West Region Team, Nor-Pac All Conference First Team member, and Nor-Pac Conference Player of the Week.

A Guadalajara, Mexico native, Campos is the daughter of Alejandro and Graciela Campos. Vianney graduated from Pacific in 2007 with a double major in criminology and sociology.
