Tigers Drop Series and Game To Aggies, 14-5

April 7, 2007

Box Score

Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific baseball team dropped a 14-5 decision to the UC Davis Aggies on Saturday, April 7.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 8-25-1 on the season, while UC Davis moved to 11-17 overall.

Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the second, the Tigers got three two out hits to score two runs. Junior Brett Manning (Boulder, Colo.) started the Pacific rally as he singled to right field. Junior John Joines (Milpitas, Calif.) followed by blasting a first pitch fastball into left-center for a run scoring double. Freshman Matt Fuson (Lodi, Calif.) decided to one-up his upperclassman with an RBI triple into left-center on a first pitch fastball.

After UC Davis got the two runs back in the top of the third, Pacific starting pitcher Jason Haar (San Diego, Calif.) took matters into his own hands with his first career home run, a two-run blast over the center field wall to make it a 5-4 game.

That, however, was as close as the Tigers would get. UC Davis scored two runs in the top of the fourth, then put the game out of reach with seven runs in the seventh inning.

Aggie starter Jeff Reeker (4-2) collected the win, allowing five runs on 10 hits and a walk in 6.2 innings.

Haar (1-2) took the loss, surrendering seven runs (two earned) on eight hits in six innings.

Joines led the Tigers' offense, finishing the day 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Pacific will be back in action on Tuesday, April 10 as the Tigers host Hawai'i at 2 p.m. at Klein Family Field.
