Tigers Held Under By Arizona State, 13-5

April 6, 2007

Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific Tigers' women's water polo team dropped a 13-5 contest to Arizona State on Friday, April 6.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 5-17 overall and 0-11 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF). Arizona State, meanwhile, moved to 10-10 on the season and 3-5 in the MPSF.

Trailing 7-0 just after halftime, Pacific scored four of the next five goals in the game to pull within four at 8-4. Junior Kellie Fletcher (Roseville, Calif.) put Pacific on the board with a goal at the 3:53 mark in the third quarter. On the next Tiger possession, freshman Alex Kutac (Houston, Texas) made it 7-2.

Following a Sun Devil goal, freshman Sarah Harris (Cape Town, South Africa) notched back-to-back goals in only 18 seconds to cut the Arizona State lead to 8-4.

That, however, was as close as the Tigers got as Arizona State notched the next five goals before Pacific closed the game with a goal from junior Virginia McConnell (Ottawa, Ontario).
