Tigers Fall to No. 14 UCSB at MPSF Tournament 14-10, Finish in 13th Place

Tempe, Ariz. - The Pacific women's water polo team finished its season with a 5-25 mark after falling in consolation action to No. 14 UC Santa Barbara (16-20) at the 2007 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament by a final score of 14-10.

The Tigers got off to a strong start behind three first period goals by Junior Kellie Fletcher (Roseville, Calif) as Pacific trailed just 5-4 heading into the second period. Both teams went on to score two goals in the second to give the Gauchos a small 7-6 advantage heading into the intermission.

UC Santa Barbara came out firing in the third period as they outscored the Tigers 4-2 to extend the advantage to three goals at 11-8. The Gauchos again outscored Pacific 3-2 in the fourth to take home the 14-10 victory.

Freshman Sarah Harris (Cape Town, South Africa) reached a milestone in the loss, as with her three goal performance gave her 102 on the season, allowing her to become the first Tigers to reach the "Century Club" of 100 plus goals.

Fletcher ended the game with four goals to pace Pacific, while junior Virginia McConnell (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) added two. In the cage, junior Jocelyn Gray (Strathmore, Alberta, Canada) collected 12 blocks for the Tigers.

The Gauchos were led by Aimee Stachowski who tallied four goals.
