Fullerton, Calif. - The Pacific baseball team suffered an 18-1 loss to No. 17 Cal State Fullerton on Friday, April 20.
With the loss the Tigers dropped to 10-29-1 on the season and 0-7 in the Big West Conference. Cal State Fullerton, meanwhile, moved to 24-12 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
Cal State Fullerton scored in each inning from the second through the seventh inning, including five run bursts in the fifth and the seventh.
The Tigers' lone run came in the fifth as Pacific scored an unearned run without the benefit of a hit. Junior John Joines (Milpitas, Calif.) led off the inning be reaching on a error. Two outs later, junior Brett Manning (Boulder, Colo.) and junior Justin Baum (La Mesa, Calif.) were hit by a pitch to load the bases. Sophomore Zach Chamberlin (San Rafael, Calif.) drew a walk to drive in Joines.
Titan starter Wes Roemer (6-4) picked the victory as he allowed one unearned run on three hits and two walks.
Pacific senior Jake Wild (Kingsburg, Calif.) took the loss (1-6) as he surrendered six runs on two hits, three walks and four hit batters in 2.1 innings.
The Tigers and Titans will continue their three-game series on Saturday, April 21 at 6:00 p.m. at Goodwin Field.
