Pacific Downed by UCLA, 8-3

Los Angeles, Calif. - The Pacific baseball squad fell surrendered eight runs in the first three innings as the Tigers fell to UCLA, 8-3, on Monday, March 26.

The loss dropped Pacific to 7-19-1 on the season, while UCLA moved to 10-14 overall.

Trailing 8-0 entering the top of the fourth inning, junior Justin Baum (La Mesa, Calif.) blasted a solo home run over the right-center field wall to get the Tigers on the board. It was Baum's sixth home run of the season and the Tigers' first hit of the game. Pacific added another run in the fourth as sophomore Joey Centanni (San Diego, Calif.) walked, then with two outs, sophomore Zach Chamberlin (San Rafael, Calif.) lifted an RBI double into left field.

Unfortunately the Tigers did not score again until the ninth inning when Chamberlin singled and pinch hitter, freshman Mike Walker (Marysville, Calif.), knocked an RBI double into right field.

Senior Jake Wild (Kingsburg, Calif.) suffered the loss (1-4) as he allowed six runs on five hits and two walks in two innings.

UCLA's Gavin Brooks (2-3) nabbed the win by holding Pacific to two runs on three hits and three walks.

Chamberlin and Baum accounted for three of the Tigers' six hits in the loss.

Pacific returns to the diamond on Friday, March 30 as the Tigers open Big West Conference play against Cal Poly at 2 p.m. in Klein Family Field.
