The Pacific women's water polo team fell to No. 7 ranked San Diego State 14-7 on Sunday, March 18th at Chris Kjeldsen Pool in Stockton. With the loss, the Tigers fall to 5-13, 0-9 in the MPSF, while the Aztecs improve to 12-5, 4-2 in MPSF action.
The Aztecs put the game away early, scoring eight straight goals to take an 8-0 lead. Jenna Schuster scored two goals in the 8-0 run for the Aztecs. The Tigers did get a bit closer late in the second quarter, as freshman Sarah Harris (Cape Town, South Africa) and junior Kellie Fletcher (Roseville, Calif.) each scored goals to cut the lead to 8-2. San Diego State scored one more goal to take a 9-2 halftime lead.
Pacific outscored the Aztecs 3-2 in the third quarter to close the score to 11-5, but San Diego State scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
Harris and junior Virginia McConnell (Ottawa, Ontario) each scored two goals for the Tigers. Schuster had four goals to pace San Diego State.
The Tigers are next in action on Sunday, March 18th as they host Princeton at Chris Kjeldsen Pool. The Princeton Tigers will face Pacific at 5pm.
