Honolulu, Hawai'i - The Pacific women's water polo team fell to No. 8 ranked Hawai'i by a final score of 18-11 on Wednesday, March 14th in Honolulu, Hawai'i.
With the loss, the Tigers fall to 5-12, 0-8 in the MPSF, while the Rainbow Wahine improve to 10-7, 6-2 in MPSF action.
The Tigers got a career day from junior Kellie Fletcher (Roseville, Calif.), as she posted eight goals in the game for the Tigers.
Pacific trailed 6-2 after one period of play, but played even polo until the start of the fourth period, allowing seven goals while posting an additional seven goals to make the score 13-9 Hawai'i heading into the fourth. The Rainbow Wahine had the answer in the fourth as, following a Fletcher goal that pulled Pacific to within one at 13-10, they would go on to score five of the games final six goals to pull away to victory.
Hawai'i was led by Ryan Hanson-Swaner who scored five goals, while Lisa van Raalte and Brittany Dames each added four apiece.
The Rainbow Wahine held the MPSF's leading scoring, Pacific freshman Sarah Harris (Cape Town, South Africa) to just one goal.
The Tigers are next in action on Sunday, March 18th as they host San Diego State and Princeton at Chris Kjeldsen Pool. Game time against the Aztecs is scheduled for 10am, while the Princeton Tigers will face Pacific at 5pm.
