STOCKTON, Calif. - Sophomore Jeff Hendershot (Claremont, Calif.) recorded a career-high 14 kills to lead the No. 9 Pacific men's volleyball team to a 30-20, 30-21, 28-30, 30-22 non-conference victory over the New Jersey Institute of Technology on Tuesday, Mar. 13, at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
With the win Pacific improved to 13-10. NJIT dropped to 12-5.
Junior Pekka Seppanen (Kuopio, Finland) tied for match high honors with 14 kills for the Tigers. Senior Garrett Morales (Long Beach, Calif.) added 56 assists, six digs and a career-high five blocks.
With Pacific leading 14-12 in the first game, the Tigers used an 8-0 run to take control and cruise to a 30-20 win.
The Tigers took the lead at 17-12 in game two after a 7-1 run. They continued to hold off the Highlanders for a 30-21 win.
Despite outhitting NJIT .214 to .074 in game three, Pacific had two costly service errors and three attack errors down the stretch in a 30-28 loss.
Pacific took control of game four at 17-11 after a 7-2 run. Despite receiving five of junior Greg Wagner's (Wilbraham, MA) team high 10 kills in the game, the Highlanders were unable to recover. The Tigers won, 30-22.
The Tigers are next in action with a neutral site match against Quincy in Muncie, Ind. on March 23, at 7 p.m. (CT).
