Pacific Suffers First Shutout of the Season, Falling to Nevada, 7-0

Feb. 16, 2007

Box Score

Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific Baseball team suffered their first shutout loss of the season as the Tigers fell to Nevada, 7-0, on Friday, Feb. 16.

With the loss the Tigers fell to 2-6 on the season, while Nevada moved to 4-6 overall.

The Wolf Pack took advantage of two Pacific errors in the top of the third inning with three runs on three hits and two walks.

The increased pitch count took its toll on Tiger starter, sophomore Joey Centanni (San Diego, Calif.), in the fourth and sixth innings as Centanni surrendered a single run in the fourth and two in the sixth. The big blow was a two-run bomb off the bat of Konrad Schmidt in the sixth inning.

The Tigers best opportunity to score came in the bottom of the third as Pacific loaded the bases on an error and two walks. Unfortunately the Tigers could not punch through as freshman Mike Walker (Marysville, Calif.) popped out to second base.

Nevada's Ryan Rodriguez (1-2) picked up the win as he allowed just two hits and three walks in seven innings.

Centanni (0-2) suffered the loss, allowing six runs (three earned) on 11 hits and two walks in six innings.

Pacific and Nevada will continue their three-game series on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m.
