Tigers Fall to No. 3 Stanford, 23-5

Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific women's water polo team fell to No. 3 Stanford on Feb. 10, by a score of 23-5 at Chris Kjeldsen Pool in Stockton, Calif. With the loss, the Tigers fell to 0-3 on the season and 0-2 in MPSF play, while Stanford advanced to 4-0 on the season and 1-0 in the MPSF.

In the game, freshman Sarah Harris (Cape Town, South Africa) scored two goals in the second period and junior Kellie Fletcher (Roseville, Calif.) scored two more in the fourth to lead the Tigers in scoring. Junior, Virginia McConnell (Ottawa, Ontario) netted a goal for Pacific in the second period as well.

On defense, junior Jocelyn Gray (Strathmore, Alberta, Canada) recorded two blocks and Freshman Jill Hauck (Pottsville, Penn.) recorded four blocks.

Leading the charge for Stanford was Katie Hansen and Kate Heddleston. On offense, Hansen scored five goals for Stanford and on defense Heddleston managed to block 11 of the Tigers 23 shots as the Cardinal goalie.

The Tigers will next be in action on Feb. 17, when they take on UCLA at 12:00 p.m. in Stockton, Calif. The game will be played at Chris Kjeldsen pool.
