No. 14 Pacific Falls to No. 3 UCLA 3-1, Defeats No. 12 USC 3-1 in Season Opening Action

Santa Barbara, Calif. The No. 14 ranked Pacific men's volleyball team started their season off on Friday, splitting games at the UCSB Elephant Bar invitational. The Tigers fell to No. 3 UCLA 3-1 in the days first game, but came back to defeat No. 12 USC 3-1.

The game scores for game one were 30-27, 28-30, 30-27, 30-24 in favor of the Bruins, while in game two the Tigers took away a victory 30-24, 30-27, 26-30, 30-27.

Against the Bruins, the Tigers were led by junior outside hitter Pekka Seppanen (Kuopio, Finland) who tallied 16 kills, while senior Matt Cornell (Granada Hills, Calif.) added 10. Against the Trojans, senior Andreas Baboulidis (Ruesselsheim, Germany) amassed 17 kills, while senior Dan Hammer (Glendale, Wisc.) and Seppanen added nine and eight respectively.

The Tigers will take their 1-1 record into the fifth place match of the tournament, taking on the winner of the Stanford/Long Beach St. matchup from Friday night. First serve of that match is scheduled for 1:30p.m.
