Box Score

Stockton, Calif. - Four errors in the first two innings led to six unearned runs for the top-ranked Cal State Fullerton Titans as Pacific fell, 11-1, on Saturday, Apr. 22.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 22-15 on the season and 3-5 in the Big West Conference, while Cal State Fullerton moved to 30-10 overall and 7-1 in conference play.

The Tigers dug a deep hole in the first two innings as four Pacific errors led to six unearned runs for the Titans. The Tigers committed three errors in the first inning. Cal State Fullerton took advantage of the opportunity with two runs on three singles. Another Tiger error in the second resulted in a two-out grand slam by Cal State Fullerton's Jared Clark as the No. 1 Titans led 6-0 after two innings.

Cal State Fullerton added their first earned run in the top of the third on a two-out RBI single from Justin Turner.

The Tigers scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI single from senior John Devany (Danville, Calif.). Senior Bob Saunders (Oakland, Calif.) was hit by a pitched to start the Pacific inning. One out later, senior Anthony Jackson (Modesto, Calif.) walked to put runners at first and second. Senior Matt Berezay (Manteca, Calif.) followed with a single through the right side. After Saunders was forced out at home on a ground ball off the bat of senior Ramon Glasgow (Stockton, Calif.), Devany singled into left field to plate Jackson. Berezay, however, was thrown out after rounding third too far to end the Pacific threat.

Cal State Fullerton added two runs in both the seventh and the eighth inning to bring the final score to 11-1.

Titan starter, Lauren Gagnier (9-3), picked up the win as he allowed one run on five hits and two walks in 7.1 innings.

Pacific starter, freshman Joey Centanni (San Diego, Calif.), was the tough luck loser as he surrendered seven runs (one earned) on seven hits and two walks in three innings. The loss dropped Centanni to 3-2 on the season.

Pacific and the No. 1 Titans will conclude their three-game series on Sunday, Apr. 23 at 1 p.m. at Klein Family Field.
