Pacific falls to No. 14 UC Davis 16-3

Davis, Calif. The Pacific women's water polo team fell to No. 14 UC Davis by the score of 16-3 in a non-conference contest contested at Schall Aquatics Center on Friday, April 21. With the loss, the Tigers fall to 0-20 while the Aggies improve to 17-11 on the season.

UC Davis held a 2-0 lead in the first period before senior Julia Snyder (Fresno, Calif.) scored her 36th goal of the season to pull Pacific to within a goal. The Aggies answered back with the final goal of the first period, a four-meter penality conversion by Cassie Schaefer to post a 3-1 lead after one.

UC Davis stormed out of the gate in the second period, acoring two goals in the first 1:08 of the period to take a 5-1 lead before Snyder answered with back-to-back goals to make the score 5-3. The Tigers were unable to get any closer, as the Aggies scored two more to end the second, and nine unanswered goals to register the final tally of 16-3.

With her hat-trick, Snyder needs just three goals to tie Amy Collette (1999-2002) for fourth on the career goals list for the Tigers at 93.

Schaefer and Jessica Soza each had three goals to lead the Aggies, while Jessi Lafayette added two.

Pacific is next in action on Saturday, April 22nd as they take on No. 6 Cal in the home finale from Chris Kjeldsen Pool. Opening sprint is scheduled for noon, with the first 60 fans in attendance recieving commemorative posters featuring Tiger seniors Leila Andrews, Kara Buchanan, Vicki McMurchie, Julia Snyder and Tory Ungari.
