Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific baseball program took another step forward on Tuesday, Apr. 18 as the Tigers opened Klein Family Field with an 8-3 win over Nevada.

With the victory, the Tigers moved to 22-13 on the season, while Nevada fell to 15-19.

Although the win was nice, the Tigers made a more important leap forward with the opening of Pacific's first on-campus baseball stadium for intercollegiate baseball, Klein Family Field.

On Tuesday afternoon, Pacific seniors Ramon Glasgow (Stockton, Calif.) and John Devany (Danville, Calif.) made certain the Tigers would open their new ballpark with a victory. Glasgow was 4-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Devany launched the first home run out of Klein Family Field in the seventh inning, a three-run shot over the left field wall.

Nevada scored the first run of the game in the top of the first as an error allowed the Wolf Pack to take a 1-0 lead.

Pacific answered back in the bottom of the second as Glasgow led the inning off with a double down the right field line, Pacific's first hit at Klein. Two outs later, freshman Alex Zanini (Stockton, Calif.) singled through the left side to plate Glasgow and tie the game at 1-1. Pacific freshman Joe Oliveira (San Diego, Calif.) and senior Bob Saunders (Oakland, Calif.) followed with back-to-back singles to drive in Zanini and give Pacific its first lead at 2-1. Oliveira later scored on a wild pitch to make it a 3-1 contest.

The Tigers added to their lead in the fifth inning as Pacific scored two runs on two hits, two walks and a hit batter. Saunders led the inning off as he was hit by a pitch. A sacrifice by sophomore Adam Ching (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) moved Saunders to second, then senior Anthony Jackson (Modesto, Calif.) singled past a drawn-in infield to make it 4-1. Following a Nevada pitching change, Jackson stole second and scored on a two-out RBI single to right field by Glasgow.

After the Wolf Pack cut the Pacific lead to 5-3 with two runs in the top of the sixth inning, Devany put the game out of reach in the seventh as he unloaded on a breaking ball for his second home run of the season. Senior Matt Berezay (Manteca, Calif.) and Glasgow had singled in front of Devany and were along for the ride as he hit a 1-1 breaking ball over the left field wall, giving the Tigers an 8-3 advantage.

Pacific freshman Ty'Relle Harris (Fairfield, Calif.) picked up the victory (4-1) as he allowed three runs (two earned) on nine hits in five innings. Sophomore Jason Haar (San Diego, Calif.) earned his third save of the season as he tossed four innings of scoreless relief.

Nevada's Ryan Rodriguez (4-5) suffered the loss, allowing three runs on five hits in three innings.

Pacific will be back in action on Friday, Apr. 21 as the Tigers host No. 1 Cal State Fullerton at 2 p.m. at Klein Family Field.
