Tigers Outlasted in Four Games By Second Ranked BYU

Provo, Utah - The Pacific men's volleyball team fell to second ranked BYU in four games, Saturday, April 1. The Tigers stretched the match to four games after taking the second set 30-28 but the Cougars prevailed 26-30, 30-28, 23-30 and 27-30 to drop the Tigers record to 7-17 overall and 5-13 in the MPSF.

Senior Brian Adamson bounced back after a sub-par first game against the Cougars to lead Pacific with 20 kills while Matt Cornell and Joe Forbes each had 10 kills on the night.

The Tigers fell in game one after tying it up at 18-all. The Cougars used an 8-2 run to finish it at 30-26. Pacific battled back to take game two 30-28 behind a 5-1 run to jump ahead 21-16. Forbes sealed the game with an ace to tie the sets at 1-1. BYU prevailed in the final two set, winning 30-23 and 30-27 to give their seniors a final win at home.

Junior Mitchell Hazelett once again led the offense, directing 52 assists on the night while Andreas Baboulidis recorded a team-high nine digs.

The Cougars had four players with double-digit kills, three with 15 each including Yosleyder Cala, Jonathan Charette and Russell Holmes. The win gives BYU their 18th of the season and improves their MPSF record to 14-4.

The Tigers are back in the Spanos Center next weekend for games against top ranked UC Irvine on April 7th and UCLA on April 8th.
