 San Diego, Calif. -  For the second consecutive game,  the Pacific Tigers scored in both the eighth and the ninth inning as the Tigers notched four runs in the final two innings to defeat the San Diego State Aztecs, 6-3, on Saturday, Mar. 24.
With the win, the Tigers moved to 15-7 on the season, while San Diego State fell to 6-22 overall.
Trailing 3-2 in the top of the eighth inning, seniors Anthony Jackson (Modesto, Calif.) and Ramon Glasgow (Stockton, Calif.) came through with back-to-back singles to kick off the Tigers rally.  Sophomore Brett Manning (Boulder, Colo.) followed with a walk to load the bases with no outs.  Senior John Devany (Danville, Calif.) tied the score at 3-3 with a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Jackson.  Two batters later, sophomore Adam Ching (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) gave the Tigers a 5-3 lead with a bases loaded single to left field, plating Glasgow and Manning.
Pacific added an insurance run in the ninth as Jackson drew a one out walk, stole second, stole third and scored an errant throw to third by San Diego State catcher Jordan Swaydan.
Seniors Steve Spurgeon (Stockton, Calif.) and Eric Stolp (Oakhurst, Calif.) each tossed a scoreless inning of relief to preserve the Tigers victory, with Stolp earning his third save of the season with a hitless ninth.
The Tigers notched the first run of the game in the second inning as  Jackson and Glasgow drew back-to-back walks to start the inning.  Two outs later, freshman Alex Zanini (Stockton, Calif.) stroked a single into left field to drive home Jackson, giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
San Diego State struck back in the bottom of the third inning as the Aztecs scored two runs on two hits, two walks and a hit batter.
Trailing for the first time in the series, the Tigers evened the game at 2-2 in their next at-bat.
Senior Matt Berezay (Manteca, Calif.) drew a leadoff walk in the top of the fourth. One out later, Glasgow bounced a ball to San Diego State second baseman Nick Romero.  The ball kicked off Romero's knee, allowing Berezay to go to third, while Glasgow cruised into second.  Sophomore Brett Manning (Boulder, Colo.) following with an RBI single to right field to tie the game at 2-2.
From that point on, Pacific starter, freshman Joey Centanni (San Diego, Calif.) settled into a groove on the mound, retiring 9-of-10 Aztec batters through the middle three innings.
San Diego State, however, reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the seventh as right fielder Curt Mendoza hit a solo home run to give the Aztecs a 3-2 lead heading into the eighth.
Centanni (2-0) earned the victory for Pacific as he allowed three runs on four hits and three walks in seven innings.
San Diego State's Adam Simon (0-4) suffered the loss, surrendering four runs on three hits and two walks in 2.2 innings of relief.
The Pacific victory extended the Tigers' winning streak to four-games, tying a season-high.  San Diego State, meanwhile, lost its 12th straight game, a program record for consecutive losses.
The Tigers and Aztecs will conclude their three-game series on Sunday, Mar. 26 at 1 p.m. as the Tigers go for their second sweep of the season.
