Berkeley, Calif. - The Pacific Tigers rallied for three runs in the ninth to force extra innings, then scored a run in the tenth to defeat California, 6-5, on Sunday, Mar. 19.

The Tigers moved to 13-7 with the victory, while California fell to 11-10. Pacific also claimed the three-game series from the Golden Bears as the Tiger defeated Cal, 10-3, in Stockton, Calif. on Saturday, Mar. 18

Entering the top of the ninth, the Tigers trailed 5-2 with the top of the lineup due up. Sophomore Adam Ching (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) got the Tigers' rally started with a single up the middle. Sophomore Justin Baum (La Mesa, Calif.) followed with a double down the left field line. Ching scored on the play as Cal's Chris Errecart bobbled the ball. Senior Matt Berezay (Manteca, Calif.) drew a walk to put the tying run on base. A wild pitch sent Baum to third and Berezay to second. One out later, senior Ramon Glasgow (Stockton, Calif.) lifted a sacrifice fly to center field, driving in Baum to pull the Tigers within a run at 5-4.

With the game in the balance, the Tigers called upon pinch hitter, senior John DeVany (Danville, Calif.). The Golden Bears countered by bringing Alex Trafton into the game from the bullpen.

Pacific head coach Ed Sprague responded by sending a left-handed bat to the plate, sophomore Jason Haar (San Diego, Calif.). The Tigers pinch-hitter, responded with a game-tying single into left field.

The game remained tied until the top of the tenth, when Ching once again got the Tigers going. With one out in the inning, Ching lifted a double into left field. Baum followed with an infield single, then Berezay ripped an RBI single through the right side to give the Tigers a 6-5 lead.

Senior Eric Stolp nailed down the bottom of the tenth to pick up his second win (2-0) of the season. Not only did Stolp hold the Golden Bears down in the final inning, he was instrumental in the Tigers' comeback, limiting California to just one run on two hits in the final 3.2 innings.

Earlier in the game, Pacific opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first as Glasgow delivered a two-out single to score Baum, who had reached on a single through the left side.
