Davidson, North Carolina - With two goals from senior Vianney Campos (Guadalajara, Mexico) and a goal a piece from freshmen Mary Davies (Poway, Calif.) and Audrey Brand (San Diego, Calif.), the Pacific field hockey team defeated Davidson on Nov. 3 by a score of 4-1.
Although Davidson's Eleanor Cowley scored the first goal of the game less than three minutes into the first half, the Tigers were quick to answer back with four goals of their own in the opening period.
The Tigers first goal of the game was scored by Davies at the 16:38 mark to tie the game up at 1-1. From that point forward it was all Pacific. Ten minutes later, the Tigers scored two goals within a minute of each other to take a quick two goal lead. Campos scored the first of the goals at the 26:22 mark and Brand scored the second goal 46 seconds later. Brand's goal was her first collegiate goal as a Tiger.
Pacific's fourth and final goal of the game was Campos' second goal of the contest and her thirty-second goal of the year. It came with 36 seconds left to play in the first half and was the last goal of the game to be scored for either team.
In total, the Tigers out shot the Wildcats 20-7 and recorded a 9-3 advantage in penalty corners. Sophomore goalkeeper Kelly Miller (Monterey, Calif.) had four saves in the contest as the Pacific defense held Davidson to only five shots on goal in the game.
