Davidson, North Carolina - The Pacific field hockey team fell to Appalachian State in the opening round of the NorPac Tournament on Nov. 2 by a score of 3-2.
In the game, Appalachian State jumped out to an early lead by scoring three quick unassisted goals in the first half. The Mountaineer goals were all scored within ten minutes of each other and were netted by Jessica Harris, Quantina Chau, and Alison Gradischer.
The Tigers' lone goal of the first half was scored on a penalty corner with just under two minutes left in the period by senior Brianne Martinez (Chula Vista, Calif.) to pull the Tigers within two. Martinez's goal was assisted by senior Vianney Campos (Guadalajara, Mexico).
In the second period, senior Jennifer Chaney (Campbell, Calif.) scored the only goal of the half on a penalty corner to bring the Tigers within one. However, it would not be enough as Pacific would eventually fall to the Mountaineers by a final score of 3-2.
The Tigers will play their final game of the season tomorrow, Nov. 3, against Davidson at 11:00 a.m. in Davidson, North Carolina.
