Box Score

Stockton, Calif. - Pacific field hockey fell 3-2 to Radford, Oct. 29, in their final regular season game. The Tigers lost their Senior Day home finale that would have clinched the NorPac Conference title.

The Tigers came hard on the attack early in the game, racking up three penalty corners in the opening five minutes of play but failing to convert on any of them. The two teams traded possession throughout the first half as Radford controlled the ball midway through the first half, getting three penalty corners of their own but also failing to score. The Tigers got two chances with just over five minutes to go on penalty corners but a Vianney Campos shot sailed wide. The Highlanders meanwhile turned around and scored their first goal of the game at the 29:06 mark as Stephanie McLamb scored on a penalty corner from Tiffany Church and Meredith Evans.

Pacific evened the score quickly into the second half as Campos shot a penalty corner that was saved, regained control and blasted home a game-tying goal. With the game tied at one. The two teams battled until the 51:30 mark when Radford scored their second goal on a penalty corner, this time at the hands of Meredith Evans. The Highlanders upped their lead eight minutes later, scoring yet another penalty corner goal courtesy of Courtney Brown.

Down 3-1 with just over ten minutes left, the Tigers brought themselves closer as senior Laura Maurer netted a goal from Natalie Purcell off a penalty corner. Pacific had an opportunity with less than five minutes to go as the Tigers were awarded four straight penalty corners, but could not capitalize on any of the opportunities.

The Highlanders recorded 15 shots, many of those on their 12 penalty corners, while the Tigers got 10 shots on 13 penalty corners.

The Tigers' fate now rests with the winner of the Stanford-Radford game this weekend. With the win the Highlanders join Pacific and California as the only teams in the NorPac Conference with just one loss.
