Pacific Falls To Virginia Commonwealth, 3-1

Richmond, Virg. - The Pacific field hockey team could not hold onto their one goal lead as the Virginia Commonwealth came back to defeat the Tigers 3-1, Friday, Oct. 14.

Junior Marissa Atilano (Escondido, Calif.) jumpstarted the Tiger offense with a goal just 2:12 off an assist from junior Jennifer Chaney. With that assist Chaney set a new school record for most assists in a season (7). However the Rams quickly answered back with three first half goals. Sophomore Rebecca Bosler tied the match at the 27:28 mark, and then put the Rams on top for good with her second goal only 3:52 later. Sophomore Jenna Harris added an insurance goal at 21:19.

Junior Vianney Campos (Guadalajara, Mexico) managed seven shots on goal as Pacific outshot Virginia Commonwealth 19 to 8 and the Tigers attempted eight penalty corners to the Rams' four.

The Tigers continue their East Coast road trip with a NorPac conference game against Davidson on Sunday, Oct. 16.
