LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Pacific men's soccer program fought to the last moments of a feisty finish, ultimately coming up short in a 1-0 decision at UC San Diego on Saturday from Triton Soccer Stadium.
The Tigers (1-3-1) held their ground, staving off most of the Tritons' (4-0) offensive presence across the night, but could not find an equalizer late despite extended pressure.
Sophomore
Josephat Yangyuoru had the most opportunities in the evening for the Tigers, recording two shot attempts and one on target. Redshirt sophomore

Montgomery Carey also registered shot attempts during the second-half push.
Graduate student
Mateus Ruiz-Hurst drew the starting assignment in goal for the second consecutive match, notching a career-high ten saves across the 90-minute effort. Six of those ten stops came in a busy first half. The ten-save mark ties the season-high by a Pacific keeper when sophomore
Alejandro Caracheo Luna tallied that many in the 3-2 win at Utah Tech.
The Tritons pressed early, striking for the only goal of the match in the 23rd minute for a 1-0 lead via Gavin Allegaert. UCSD out-chanced Pacific 21-4 in the shots department and 13-2 in the corner kicks statistic.
Despite trailing by a goal for most of the match, the Tigers continued to apply pressure late in the contest, but a pair of last-minute free kicks were denied by the Tritons' defense.
Pacific will look to regroup and return to Northern California for a road match at San Jose State on Thursday at 7 p.m. from Spartan Soccer Complex. The match can be viewed live on the MW+ Networks with a subscription.
