SEATTLE, Wash. – The Pacific men's and women's track & field program broke a school record as part of the opening day of the UW Invitational on Friday at Dempsey Indoor Facility.
Sophomore
Angelina Lione set a new Pacific record in the women's indoor 5k with a time of 16:41.68, surpassing the previous mark by
Jasmine Gonzalez from 2018 (18:11.67). Lione finished the race in third place out of the 11 participants.
Sophomore
Alix Crawford posted another strong performance in the women's 5k, following Lione's footsteps to the second fastest 5k by a Tiger all-time with a time of 17:45.46.
Freshman
Emma Schmutz set a new personal best in the women's 3k run after coming in 58th place with a time of 10:01.42. Schmutz shaved off over ten seconds from her time at the UW Preview.
On the men's side, junior
Jack Weber and junior
Samuel Lanham ran in the 3k as Weber turned in an 8:26.88 for 29th place individually, marking the fastest men's 3k by a Tiger this season. Lanham notched a time of 8:36.55, which put him in a top 40 position.
In the men's 5k, freshman
Jett Davenport became the fastest Tiger this year to run that event, clocking in at 14:44.03 for 12th place. Sophomore
Kohl Sanders finished in 18th place, setting a new personal best in the process with a 14:54.37.
The Tigers go for day two of the UW Invitational tomorrow that will feature the men's and women's mile runs.
