UW Invitational Awaits Tigers This Weekend

SEATTLE, Wash. – The Pacific men's and women's track & field program returns to the Emerald City on Friday and Saturday, gearing up for the UW Invitational, hosted by Washington from Dempsey Indoor Facility.

The Tigers will send seven distance runners to Seattle across the two-day meet, competing in the 3,000-meter, 5,000-meter and one-mile events.

Sophomore Angelina Lione, sophomore Alix Crawford and freshman Emma Schmutz represent the trio of Tigers from the women's side who will compete this weekend in the mile. Lione and Crawford will also run in the 5k while Schmutz suits up for the 3k.

Two weeks ago, Lione established an indoor mile time of 4:53.86 at the UW Preview, which is the fastest among the Tigers this season. Schmutz is right behind Lione with a time of 5:04.98 from the UW Preview.

Ready for their first 5ks of the indoor track season, Lione and Crawford look to break the women's 5k school record set by Jasmine Gonzalez in 2019 (18:11.67).

On the men's side, junior Jack Weber, junior Samuel Lanham, sophomore Kohl Sanders and freshman Jett Davenport will all take part in the mile. Weber and Lanham will also run in the men's 3k, while Sanders and Davenport will compete in the men's 5k as part of Friday's lineup of events.

Lanham competed in the one-mile event at the UW Preview, collecting 38th place with a time of 4:20.09, marking the fastest mile by a Tiger this season. Weber served as the fastest Tiger at the Nevada Invitational two weeks ago, clocking in at 4:23.24 for the second fastest mile behind Lanham this year.

The women's 5k is scheduled to begin Friday at 11:20 a.m., followed by the men's version of the event at 11:45 a.m. The mile events will take place on Saturday in the afternoon at approximately 1:45 p.m.
