Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Pacific Unable to Overcome Fast Oregon State Start

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Pacific women's basketball fell behind early from a 14-6 Oregon State run, which carried the Beavers to an 81-61 win on Friday night at Gill Coliseum.

Pacific (7-7, 2-1 WCC) saw the bulk of its success in the second half of the contest, led by freshman Sophia Mindermann off the bench who put up her career-best 15 points - matching her career high in both field goals made (5-for-10) and three-pointers (4-for-7). Her efforts underscored a Tigers bench that shot 43.3% from the floor and scored outscored the starting five 34-27, the third such instance this season.

Beyond Mindermann on the bench, junior Marina Radocaj and freshman Liv Yergensen found success scoring six and five points respectively – all in the first half. Senior Hannah Burg saw her first action of conference play and matched her division one scoring high five points (2-for-3 FG, 1-for-2 3pt).

Within the starting five it was sophomore Winner Bartholomew who converted the most opportunities going 6-for-14 from the floor with a pair of free throws to finish with 14 points, a rebound and an assist. Junior Nyah Lowery also turned it on in the second half, scoring all seven of her points and grabbed four of her five rebounds.

Senior Sydney Ward led the team on the glass grabbing seven boards.

As a team, Pacific was unable to quell Oregon State (11-5, 3-0 WCC) who shot over 50% from the field and hit ten three-pointers as well as outrebounded the Tigers 35-29.

Coming up next for Pacific is the second half of the tour of Oregon going to face the University of Portland on Sunday. Tipoff from the Chiles Center is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
