Quick Start Lifts Roadrunners Past Tigers

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Pacific women's soccer program dropped a 4-1 decision to Cal State Bakersfield on Thursday night at Main Soccer Field.

The Tigers (1-3-1) could not overcome a three-goal first half by the Roadrunners (1-4), who ultimately earned the result in their home opener.

Sierah McCallum was the beneficiary of a pin-balling ricochet in the box that ultimately led to her second goal of the season, cutting Pacific's deficit at the time to 2-1 in the 35th minute of the game. McCallum has scored four of her six career goals against Big West schools.

Graduate student Juliana Alexander made the start in goal in front of her hometown crowd. The native of Bakersfield, California collected three saves in the effort defensively.

Aside from Alexander, fifth year Aniela Jensen played the most minutes on the pitch, logging 82 minutes with a shot attempt.

Fueled by the energy from the Bakersfield faithful, the Roadrunners converted four goals on the night from four different goal scorers, breaking the deadlock in the 19th minute and continuing to add on with their 24 shot attempts toward the Pacific goal.

The Tigers return to Stockton from their two-game road swing, celebrating Senior Day against UC San Diego on Monday at 11 a.m. at Knoles Field. Pacific earned a 1-0 victory over the Tritons last season in La Jolla.
