Men’s Tennis Cruises Past Montana

STOCKTON, Calif. – Pacific men's tennis handled Montana for its second consecutive home win with the 4-1 triumph Thursday morning at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center.

The Tigers (6-5) wasted no time gaining the upper hand with a 6-1 win on court two from freshman Jonty Giesen and senior Justas Trainauskas followed by a 6-3 win by juniors Terence Das and Tiago Silva on court three a short time later to earn the doubles point.

The combination of Das and Silva continue to be a bright spot for the Tigers as the pair has won six of their last seven outings.

Montana (8-2) threatened early in singles with a win on court three to draw the deficit to 2-1 but Pacific responded with straight set wins on courts six and one to clinch the match.

Silva on singles also continues to shine, winning four of his last five matches on court one. Meanwhile freshman Vraj Patel has come in clutch for the team with wins in three of his last four appearances.

With the win, the team improves to 2-0 all-time against Montana and sets up a showdown with No. 17 Princeton on Sunday in the battle of the Tigers on Sunday, Mar. 9. Fans in attendance will be treated to free pizza, popcorn and water.

First serve from the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center is set for 1 p.m.
