HONOLULU – The No. 25 Pacific women's water polo program went stride for stride with No. 3 Hawaii in the first half, but the Rainbow Warriors were able to pull away in the second and take a 15-8 decision Saturday evening at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
Â
The score was even 2-2 at the end of the first quarter and still knotted 4-4 midway through the second. Though, Hawaii (14-3, 3-0 Big West) was able to create separation from Pacific (9-8, 3-1 GCC) in the third to thwart an upset bid.
Â
Junior
Dora Alaksza netted a hat trick and an assist as she continued to lead the offense. She's up to 72 goals on the season, the second-most in the Golden Coast Conference. It was the 13th time this season she recorded at least three goals in a match and the fourth game in a row.
Â
Find the back of the net twice was senior
Hila Futorian for her ninth multi-goal performance of the year. Senior Szamira Koppany, sophomore
Anna Crum and freshman
Kyra Lurito all tallied a goal, while senior
Addison McGowan dished out two assists.
Â
The Tigers return home next weekend to host Fresno Pacific at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center.
