STOCKTON, Calif. – A wire-to-wire victory for the No. 25 Pacific women's water polo program saw the Tigers get off to a fast start and never look back in a 13-5 win over Fresno Pacific on Saturday at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center.
Pacific (10-8, 3-1 GCC) scored the first three goals of the game and led 6-1 early in the second quarter. The Tigers were up 9-3 at half and held Fresno Pacific (10-8, 0-2 WWPA) scoreless in the third to build a 12-3 advantage, which put it out of reach.
Nine different Tigers recorded a goal in the contest including sophomore
Ella Cowan who tallied a goal and six assists. Seniors
Natalie Johnston,
Ilyana Zlobinsky and
Hila Futorian, and sophomore
Alicia Petkov notched two goals apiece.
Registering a goal each was senior
Addison McGowan, junior Dora ALaksza, sophomore
Anna Crum and sophomore
Millie Jacobson.
In net, sophomore
Maja Lizy Dulic played three quarters and blocked five saves. Freshman
Laurel Cooper entered in the fourth quarter and rejected four saves.
The Tigers improved to 20-0 all-time against Fresno Pacific.
Saturday was the first of four consecutive home games for Pacific to close out the regular season. The Tigers will return to the Eberhardt Aquatics Center for a 5 p.m. game Friday against San Diego State in a GCC battle.
