Game Recap: Women's Water Polo |

No. 20 Women’s Water Polo Drops Home Contest to No. 4 UCLA

STOCKTON, Calif. – The No. 20 Pacific women's water polo program got off to a slow start and couldn't catch up to No. 4 UCLA in a 16-8 decision Sunday in a non-conference match at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center.

Junior Dora Alaksza registered five goals to lead Pacific (9-7, 3-1 GCC). She was coming off a hat trick yesterday in a 14-7 win over Santa Clara. Alaksza is up to 69 goals on the season, the second-most in the Golden Coast Conference.

The Tigers garnered a pair of goals from sophomore Anna Crum. Senior Ilyana Zlobinsky recorded a goal and an assist.

Sophomore goalkeeper Maja Lizy Dulic played the whole way and made nine saves. She also grabbed a match-high three steals.

The second and fourth quarters were even, but UCLA (16-3, 4-0 MPSF) held 6-2 advantages in the first and third to leap ahead. The Bruins are the defending national champions.

The Tigers will head to No. 3 Hawaii for a 6 p.m. match Saturday. The next home game is Saturday, March 29 when Pacific hosts Fresno Pacific at 1 p.m. at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center.
