Tigers Can’t Capitalize on Early Lead, Drop Road Contest to UC Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Pacific men's tennis again jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after doubles but was unable to hold on to that advantage in a 4-1 loss to UC Santa Barbara Sunday afternoon at the Arnhold Tennis Center.

Juniors Terence Das and Tiago Silva breezed through their opponent for the second straight match to claim the first doubles decision before graduate Ran Amar and sophomore Christof Schaertlin Coffey pulled off an intense 7-6 (9-7) win on court one to secure the doubles point in Pacific's (2-4) favor.

Singles was less kind to the Tigers as the Gauchos (5-1) rattled off four straight wins to clinch the match. Amar and freshman Jonty Giesen had each forced third sets in their respective matches when play was halted.

Pacific is off in the coming week but returns to action on February 21 in Phoenix, Arizona for a two-day event against Grand Canyon and UNLV.
