Game Recap: Women's Water Polo |

Shorthanded No. 22 Women’s Water Polo Drops Pair to Top-10 Opponents Saturday

DAVIS, Calif. – Going up against stiff competition without its full lineup, the No. 22 Pacific women's water polo program fell 15-10 to No. 9 UC Davis and 23-8 to No. 4 Cal on Saturday at the Schaal Aquatics Center, hosted by UC Davis.

Junior Dora Alaksza stood out for Pacific (4-2) after netting 10 goals and two assists in the two games. It included a big six-goal performance against Cal (6-0).

Pacific was without a trio of key contributors including reigning Golden Coast Conference Player of the Week winner Hila Futorian who scored 17 goals over four games last weekend. The Tigers also didn't have senior Addison McGowan or sophomore Ella Cowan who combined for eight goals last weekend.

Senior Sierra Cavano and sophomore Anna Crum tallied two goals apiece against UC Davis (6-5). Senior Ilyana Zlobinsky, sophomore Millie Jacobson and freshman Kyra Lurito also found the back of the net in the contest.

Zalobinsky and Lurito followed it up with goals against the Bears as well.

Sophomore goalkeeper Maja Lizy Dulic played the entirety of both games and totaled 17 saves. She blocked eight saves against UC Davis and nine vs. Cal.

The Tigers will close out the weekend with a 10 a.m. game against UC Merced on Sunday at the Schaal Aquatics Center in a neutral site game. Pacific's home opener is Friday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. against Concordia University Irvine at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center.
