STOCKTON, Calif. – Pacific women's basketball erased a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter, but ultimately fell in overtime to the San Diego Toreros 75-72 Thursday night in the Alex G. Spanos Center.
The Tiger (12-14, 8-8 WCC) comeback bid was largely aided by 31 offensive rebounds, which not only nearly doubled San Diego's (5-19, 1-14 WCC) 16 offensive boards, but set a new single game high for the Head Coach
Bradley Davis era. The last time any Tiger team grabbed 30+ offensive rebounds was prior to at least the 2011-12 season.
The main player responsible for the large number of offensive boards was senior
Elizabeth Elliott who grabbed ten on her own (finished with 11 boards). Coupled with her ten field goals and three free throws, the senior posted a monster 23-point, 11-rebound night – just the fourth 20-10 game of her career.
Senior
Anaya James was lethal on the defensive end racking up six steals in the contest, making her the third player in the WCC this season to accrue more than five steals in a game multiple times this season.
Sophomore
Jamie Kent flirted with a second straight double-double, posting eight points and nine rebounds in 26 minutes played off the bench.
The team is off to the Sobrato Center for its next contest, taking on the San Francisco Dons on a 2 p.m. tip on ESPN+.
