Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Pacific Edged Late at Gonzaga

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Pacific women's basketball took Gonzaga down to the waning seconds of the contest but could not muster the final run needed in a 68-64 decision from the McCarthey Athletic Center.

The Tigers (11-12, 7-6 WCC) battled back from a 16-point deficit, culminating in a sophomore Jamie Kent layup to take the lead 57-56 in the fourth. Though, Gonzaga (15-10, 10-2 WCC) ended the game on a 12-7 run to end on top.

Senior Elizabeth Elliott posted another efficient performance offensively with a 19-point day on 9-for-9 shooting. The senior center has only shot under 50% from the floor three times since the start of December and entered the contest ranked 29th in the country in field goal percentage. She also grabbed seven rebounds and logged two steals.

Graduate Liz Smith meanwhile put together her best scoring outing of 2025 with 18 points on 6-for-16 shooting. Smith also dished out four assists to go with five rebounds and a steal.

However, both Smith and Elliott were eclipsed in the rebounding and assist departments by junior Sydney Ward and senior Anaya James respectively. Ward grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds, including five on the offensive glass. She's on a run in which she's recorded more than five rebounds in five of the last six contests.

James took up the role of facilitator with seven assists on the day, and also led the team with three steals.

Pacific is done leaving the state of California for the rest of the regular season, but finishes up this three-game road swing with a trip to the Leavey Center to face Santa Clara on Thursday before returning home to take on Pepperdine on Saturday. The Tigers won the previous matchup against both teams.

Tip off Thursday is scheduled for 6 p.m. while Saturday's tip is at 1 p.m. Both matches will be on ESPN+.
