STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's soccer program erupted for a season-high four goals en route to a 4-0 victory over Air Force on Wednesday evening at Knoles Field.
In the Tigers' (4-12) first game against the Falcons (1-13-3) at home, four different Pacific players found the back of the net, marking the highest-scoring performance by the Tigers since a 4-2 victory over Cal State Bakersfield on Aug. 28, 2022.
"We knew coming in that it was a game we would be in control of," Pacific head coach
Adam Reeves said. "The two goals early on in the game were very important to us. It took some steam out of them and gave us some confidence. We got some guys on the score sheet that have been working very hard. Overall, I thought we played well."
Three Tigers ended their nights with multi-point performances in the forms of senior
Luca Baltzer, senior
Jose Maria Barrera and freshman
Dominic Berrios.
Senior
Alberto Cruz kick-started the Tigers' offense in the 15th minute as Baltzer and Berrios worked together to find Cruz, who broke free up the middle and shot the ball into the left corner for an 1-0 lead for Pacific.
The Tigers continued to press offensively, as they did throughout the majority of the match thanks to a 14-7 shot attempt advantage and struck again up the middle. Berrios collected his first career goal as a Tiger on a screaming shot that fooled the Air Force goalkeeper to give Pacific a 2-0 edge in the 22nd minute. Barrera and Baltzer set up the play for Berrios' finish. For Baltzer, it marks the first time in his career he notched multiple assists in a single match.
Carrying a 2-0 lead into the second half, Barrera found some space following a feed from graduate student
Ignacio Flores III and sophomore
Carlos Maldonado and rifled in the Tigers' third goal of the night in the 62nd minute of play. While Barrera picked up his second goal of the 2025 campaign, Flores III secured his first career point with the secondary helper.
Capping off the impressive offensive display, the Tigers capitalized in the 89th minute as the icing on the cake with freshman
Aaron Folikwei's first career goal as a Tiger off a setup of the final corner kick of the night.
Defensively, junior
Mateus Ruiz-Hurst was not tested much in his area, but he came up large with four saves in securing his first career clean sheet.
Pacific has a quick turnaround in returning to West Coast Conference action, preparing for Senior Day at 7 p.m. on Saturday against No. 13 Oregon State from Knoles Field.
