Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Pacific Puts Away Jax State in Fourth Quarter

STOCKTON, Calif. – A three-pointer from redshirt sophomore Stella Szabo with 20 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter iced the game for Pacific as the team closed the Tiger Turkey Tipoff with a 70-63 win over Jacksonville State on Saturday afternoon at the Alex G. Spanos Center.

The triple punctuated a career-high scoring day for the redshirt sophomore who connected on all her field goal attempts (3-for-3, 2-for-2 three-point) and a free throw to score nine points.

To put Szabo in the position to play hero for the Tigers (3-4), Pacific got clutch performances off the bench from juniors Nyah Lowery and Marina Radocaj as well as a strong second half effort from sophomore Winner Bartholomew.

Lowery had her best game against a division one opponent, tying her career-high 11 points on 5-for-7 shooting. The double-digit effort was the third of Lowery's career, having previously scored ten-plus points against Cal Maritime and Stanislaus State. The junior has also factored into the rebounding game by averaging 3.4 rebounds per game over the past five contests after entering the game with a career 1.9 per game average on the boards. She also showcased on the defensive end with three steals.

However, the most complete performance of the night belonged to Radocaj with her final line of six points, ten rebounds, five blocks, two steals, and two assists. The ten boards matched her career high as well as the most by a Tiger this season, both marks set on opening night against UC San Diego. Meanwhile the five blocks make her the first since senior Sydney Ward swatted five shots on the same court last season against San Francisco. Radocaj now joins Ward in the 12-way tie for seventh place on the single game record list.

After being limited to just three minutes of action due to foul trouble, Bartholomew exploded in the second half for 14 of her game high 16 points, connecting on 7-of-10 looks. She also added in six rebounds.

The team also did its best job valuing the ball on the season, committing a season low 11 turnovers while turning Jax State over 16 times, including ten steals.

Pacific concludes its five-game homestand on Thursday when the team hosts Sacramento State at 6 p.m. in the first matchup between the regional rivals since the 2014-15 season. That game can be seen on ESPN+.
